Week 12 - The Craft Barn Quotes & Lyrics Challenge

This week proved to be a challenge finding quotes and lyrics for both the given words: "proud" and "vintage". I found few songs that tickled my fancy for either word. The majority of quotes containing the word vintage seemed to be rather wordy sayings by so-called "celebrities". Instead I found the rousing Battle Hymn of the Republic and used the line "Trampling out the vintage" for my lyric postcard.

The background on the card uses the wrinkle free distress technique. The grapes and leaves were stamped, then coloured with a combination of DI's and watercolour pencils before cutting out and gluing on.

I'm not sure this quote from Voltaire is strictly true. Do we not have times when we are on our own and think we did this or that well or mull over our children's achievements and get that inner glow?

I only used Distress Inks for this postcard (apart from the words).

Love both cards, but the vintage one is just a bit ahead, as I do like the background.

I had the same problems with Vintage, all celebrity quotes about clothing! I too considered the Hymn as the only music people would recognise!
Both pages are beautiful.

Excekkent cards Maggie, you use the Di's to great effect. I agree with you about the quote. I think the glow, when alone and thinking of proud moments, is always stronger because there are no distractions :o)

Two beautiful postcards Maggie, love the vintage look you achieved with the first one and wonderful lyrics to that hymn. Hmmmm I usually can agree with Voltaire but not this time! Love your postcard all the same, that is a fab stencil.

I really LOVE that poppy stencil. I've not seen it before. I also like how you used it with the quote.

I'm always impressed when you find a quote or lyric for both words each time, but this one was especially awesome, with one quote and one lyric. Both were so well done, too. Awesome.

I abandoned vintage for proud as I couldn't find anything I liked. love your use of the DIs on both cards and each very different.

I had the same issue with looking for a good quote. But your cards turned out beautiful.
