Unlike some previous weeks it didn't take any time at all to find a song and a quotation using the words "family" and "thing" for my entry to the current Craft Barn challenge. We are permitted to make a word plural so I took that route and used "things".
Both of this week's cards have just simple Distress Ink backgrounds.
For my first postcard I chose "We Are Family" sung by Sister Sledge and
felt the stamp (which I had to doctor a little) fitted the lyrics
perfectly. On reflection I feel I should have placed the image on the
left hand edge rather than being left high and dry in the middle but
I think that's what challenges are about - the process and the journey
and if you learn something along the way that can only be good.

I used a quote from Coco Chanel on my second card "A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous". That must have fallen on deaf ears - I'm certainly neither of those!

Two fabulous creations in great colors.
Very excellent. The birds are so cute and the stylish lady is wonderful :D
love both projects and the colour combinations. the birds make me smile :)
Wow! These are both outstanding! Such striking backgrounds against simple, beautiful images!
Maybe just simple DI backgrounds but none the less fabulous, and for the first one maybe you can add a small piece of branch to connect it to the edge.
Love the shading of colours here - beautiful - fabulous cards, both of them!
Two very different and beautiful makes. Liking the colours on both, the bird stamp is very cute :-) xxx
Your first card is lovely and the speech bubble is a great idea. As to your birds defying gravity... from a realistic point of view I see your point, but from a design point of view it looks better that way.
Your second page is equally good and fun too!
Love the birdy one with the speech bubble, and I've always liked Coco Chanel!
At first I couldn't understand what you meant by the bird problem, then I read Craftyfield's comment and agree totally with her assessment. And the clever use of the lyrics with the birds was genius.
The Chanel quote was not only nicely done, you put a TON of work into it. From the dies to the coloring of the lady (Coco), this card screams attention to detail. Both are really wonderful.
Two lovely cards. Especially the birds singing.
I really didn't notice the birds floating in space until you mentioned it. I really like the piece & the background looks lovely!
two beautiful cards. Love the DI backgrounds
Oh Maggie I thought I had commented on this one! I love your interpretation of Sister Sledge's song! Absolutely brilliant :) Fabulous second card too, love that quote but it isn't an apt one for me either :) I was at the back of the queue when those essentials were handed out.
Hope you use your Versacolor inks next time!!!! xx
Your art is beautiful. Love those singing birds, thanks for the giggle. Love the masked background on your fashionable lady postcard. Hugz
