Week 17 - The Craft Barn Quotes & Lyrics Challenge

For the 17th Craft Barn Quotes & Lyrics Challenge we were given the words "grace" and "peaceful". I found both a quote and lyric quite easily again this week.

I have used a line from Elegy IX: The Autumnal by the 16th/17th century poet John Donne. You can read the poem here The leaf was stamped onto a piece of wrinkle free distress background, masking off before stamping the next one, then cut out and glued onto a Distress Ink background.

My  lyric is taken from the Christmas carol "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear" which I discovered was written by an American. I had always assumed it was an English penned piece - this challenge is very educational! I stamped the butterflies directly onto my card before masking them to stamp the seed heads.

I am incredibly impressed with your stamping, Maggie. I can't tell you enough how lovely both pieces are. Those butterflies are simply divine and look like they belong in that field of seed heads.

Both images go well with your chosen quote and lyric. Like you, I had no idea an American wrote the Christmas carol. Now I'll have to look it up to see who wrote it. Great job on both.

Fabulous postcards Maggie, love them both equally well. Love the way you have done the leaves and the butterflies add a splash of colour and go so well with these words from the Christmas carol!

Wow, these are both stunning! Butterflies and flowers are always a favorite theme of mine. Great minds do think alike as we did use the same first quote. I've handprinted most of mine so far--thanks for complimenting my handwriting!

Love the colours you used on the leaf card. The butterflies are stunning. So gorgeous to have that pop of colour against the black and white. Hugz
