It may have taken time for my brain to spring into action with ideas for the current round of the Craft Barn Quotes & Lyrics Challenge but I have to say I'm quite pleased with the results. The words to be used this time are journey and/or friendship.
I decided to use a lyric containing "journey" and chose a couple of lines from Wake Me Up by Avicii . I printed the background snakes and ladders board from a web image. It was a bit too bright for my liking so I toned it down with Distress Ink and also Distress Inked the arrows before stamps some script on them. I coloured the face very lightly with watercolour pencils.

For my second postcard I used a background technique I saw Helen Chilton demonstrate at a Craft Barn Extravaganza a couple of years ago. Oil pastels were scribbled on the base card before rubbing lightly with baby oil. I then stamped the image before using embossing folders around the edge and highlighting with Treasured Gold.

Love Avicii! An really clever way of illustrating the quote the quote.
Love how you illustrated your first quote and your second page is full of lovely textures and colours. a great technique!
I don't have CI-283 but this was a difficult choice between that one and CI-284 which I used on my entry!
2 fab entries. I love the background technique on the second one and your choice of song for the first one.
love the fact you choose a recent lyric, great illustration of it also. the background of the second one is great.
Two fantastic cards on the brilliant Anna Marie card stock. This card stock is my preferred die cutting card also, versatile indeed.
So many wonderful details on both cards, the embossing and colouring are awesome:-) xxx
I feel like I've been left in the dark too long. I've never heard of that card stock you used, but I was super impressed with both postcards. I have used oil pastels with baby oil before, so I felt good that I could relate to at least a small part of your wonderful instructions/descriptions. Both the lyrics and the quote are simply stunning.
You have met this challenge head on every fortnight and I'm always impressed when I see what you've created.
Love the concept of your journey card, and I always have a soft spot for Crafty Individual stamps! Must try that baby oil trick.
Love both of these postcards Maggie. Your first one is very clever:)
Love the second one with the embossed edges. Somewhere in a packed box lies my oil pastels! Love the effect of scribbling onto a surface then using baby oil or baby wipes to smudge and blend them together. x
Two great cards! I love the background on the first one and I love the image on the second one! xx
Two fab cards. Love the first one. Brilliant idea with the game background :)
I really like the soft look of the pastels in your second piece, and your first piece just made me smile! Very clever!
Both of these creations are wonderful.
