A new year, a new challenge over on the Craft Barn blog. This year it's Quotes and Lyrics and all the details are here.
As I made a series of atc's for last years Alpha challenge I thought I would go for a larger format this year and will be making postcards (6"x4"). Although I will display these in a book I will make them as though they would be posted so I will need to bear in mind that they need to be flat as if I were to pop them in the postbox.
The choice of words to be used in the first week are "smile" and "up". I decided that using both words in just one quote or a lyric would be a too hard task but I wanted to use either all quotes or all lyrics in my year's makes. I dithered which subject to go for and in the end decided to make two postcards - one for each category. If I carry on this way I just hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew!
The lyric for "up" popped into my head immediately. Not necessarily my most favourite song in the world but I still went with it.

The background for my quote is the wrinkle free distress ink technique. I had the "smile" stamp in my collection, uninked, so it's the perfect time to use it. The colours are much brighter than the scan is showing.

Both postcards are fabulous, but I love the background to the Smile one, such beautiful colours.
Well done on both your postcards - I've done the same as you as there's more room for the words! Love the cat on the roof!
Love them both! Particularly the cat on the roof :) Fabulous background on the Smile card.

Such an original idea for the 'up' word. I love the cat on the roof. The background for the 'smiles' is just lovely too.
